Travel insurance can help with unexpected problems, but it will not cover every situation. Some exclusions apply across the whole policy, and others apply only to certain sections you are claiming under.
Common reasons a claim may not be covered
- Travelling against medical advice: Not covered if you travel against the advice of a medical practitioner or Zurich Assist.
- Travelling to get treatment or when treatment is already expected: For medical conditions and disabilities, not covered if you travel knowing you will need treatment during your trip, or if one purpose of your trip is to obtain medical treatment.
- Pre existing medical conditions not disclosed and accepted: Claims linked to pre existing medical conditions are only covered if you disclosed them and we accepted them in writing.
- Choosing not to travel: If your policy includes cancellation cover, it will not cover cancellation simply because you decide not to go (cancellation must be necessary and unavoidable).
- Any event not specifically stated as covered is excluded
How to check what applies to you
Check your policy schedule for your level of cover and any options you have chosen, including whether cancellation cover is excluded.
Read the exclusions and conditions for the section you are claiming under.
