Most limits are per insured person, but some parts of cover can be shared across everyone on the policy or have their own specific cap.
What you should know
- What “per person” means: Each insured person usually has their own limit for that type of claim. This is shown in the summary of cover as “for each person insured”.
- Some limits are shared: A few benefits are shown as applying to “all insured persons”, which means there’s one shared limit for everyone on the policy (for that benefit).
- A specific example of a cap: If you must extend your trip because you’ve contracted coronavirus disease or you’re quarantined on a doctor’s orders, the additional travel and accommodation costs are limited to a maximum of £2,000.
- Limits vs excess: A limit is the most the policy will pay for a benefit. An excess is what you pay first.
