When do I need to declare medical conditions?

  • Updated

You must declare medical conditions from the last two years if you have taken prescribed medication, received medical treatment or advice, been placed on a waiting list affecting your trip, been advised of a terminal illness, or received palliative care. Conditions diagnosed over two years ago must be declared if any of these apply within the last two years. Accurate and full disclosure is essential.

Declaring conditions in the last two years:

You must declare a condition if, in the last two years, you have:

  • Taken any prescribed medication,
  • Received medical treatment or advice at a hospital, clinic, GP surgery, or via remote consultation,
  • Been placed on a waiting list that could cause you to cancel or cut short your trip,
  • Been advised of a terminal illness, or
  • Received or been offered palliative care.

If none of those applies, you would not be required disclosure on that basis alone.

It's important to take reasonable care to answer all medical screening questions fully and accurately.

Declaring conditions over two years ago:

You still need to declare a medical condition that was diagnosed over two years ago If any of the following apply within the last two years:

  • Taken any prescribed medication for it
  • Received medical treatment or advice for it at a hospital, clinic, GP surgery, or via remote consultation,
  • Been placed on a waiting list that could cause you to cancel or cut short your trip,
  • Been advised of a terminal illness, or
  • Received or been offered palliative care
