Does my name need to match my passport?

  • Updated

It may not be a requirement, but we recommend the name on your policy matches the name on your passport for each traveller.

This can help avoid delays or confusion if you need medical treatment, have to show your documents while travelling, or need to make a claim.

What you should know

  • Check every traveller: Make sure each person’s first name(s) and surname match their passport.
  • Small differences can still cause issues: Things like missing middle names, extra initials, hyphens, or spelling differences can sometimes create problems when details are checked.
  • If your name has changed: If you’ve changed your name (for example after marriage or by deed poll), it’s best to update your policy details so they match your current passport.
