Before you travel, keep your key documents and details together so you can find them quickly while you’re away.

What you should know

  • Travel documents
    • Passport/ID: Check it’s valid for at least 6 months after your travel dates.
    • Visa: If your destination needs one.
    • Tickets/boarding passes: Printed or digital copies.
    • Travel insurance documents: Your cover details and emergency contacts.
  • Accommodation details
    • Confirmation: Address, contact details, and check-in/check-out times.
    • Directions: Especially if you’re arriving late or somewhere unfamiliar.
  • Transport plans
    • Travel tickets: Flight/train/bus confirmations and schedules.
    • Car hire (if needed): Reservation details.
  • Health, safety and emergencies
    • Emergency contacts: Including local emergency numbers.
    • Health info: Health insurance card details, prescriptions, and any vaccination records you may need.
    • Back-ups: Copies of important documents kept separately.
  • Money, plans and staying connected
    • Money: Local currency, cards, and a small amount of back-up cash.
    • Itinerary: Bookings for tours, activities, or meals, plus maps/guidebooks if helpful.
    • Phone and power: An unlocked phone or local SIM plan, plus chargers, adapters and a power bank.
