Missed port departure
Missed port departure can help with reasonable extra room-only accommodation, and travel costs needed to join your cruise ship at the next docking port.
This can apply if you fail to arrive at the international departure point in time to board the ship for the initial international journey because of:
- Scheduled public transport failure.
- An accident or breakdown involving the vehicle you are travelling in.
- An accident or breakdown ahead of you on a motorway or dual carriageway, causing an unexpected delay to the vehicle you are travelling in.
- Strike, industrial action or adverse weather.
Missed port departure does not include additional costs where:
- Strike, industrial action or air traffic control delay was known when the policy was bought or the trip was booked, whichever is later.
- You cannot provide a professional repairer’s report for the vehicle accident or breakdown.
- You own the vehicle and it was not serviced and maintained according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- The aircraft or sea vessel is withdrawn from service on the recommendation of a relevant authority.
- You are travelling independently and planned to arrive at the port less than three hours before sailing.
- The transport operator offered reasonable alternative travel arrangements.
For traffic congestion claims, you must get written confirmation from the police or emergency breakdown services showing the location, reason and duration of the delay.
Cabin confinement
Cabin confinement can apply for each 24-hour period that you are confined to your cabin by the ship’s medical officer for medical reasons during the trip.
Cabin confinement does not apply unless the confinement is confirmed in writing by the ship’s medical officer.
Itinerary change
Itinerary change can apply for each missed port if a scheduled port visit is cancelled after departure because of situations such as adverse weather or timetable restrictions.
The cruise operator must confirm the missed port in writing and give the reason.
Itinerary change does not include:
- A missed port caused by strike or industrial action that was known when the insurance was bought.
- Your failure to attend an excursion according to your itinerary.
- A missed disembarkation caused by scheduled tender operation failure.
Unused excursions
Unused excursions can apply to pre-booked excursions that you cannot use because you are confined to your cabin due to illness or injury covered under medical emergency expenses.
The excess for unused excursions depends on your policy level and selected options. Check your policy schedule.
Cruise interruption
Cruise interruption can help with additional travel costs to reach the next port and re-join the cruise after a temporary illness that requires hospital treatment on dry land.
Cruise interruption does not include claims where less than 25% of the trip duration remains.
Before arranging extra travel, you must:
- Contact AllClear for approval and help with travel arrangements.
- Get a medical certificate from the attending medical practitioner confirming the details of the unforeseen illness or injury.
- Provide satisfactory medical evidence when requesting assistance.
If satisfactory medical evidence is not provided at the time assistance is requested, AllClear will make the necessary arrangements at your cost and arrange appropriate reimbursement once the claim is validated.
