What personal property can include

Personal property can include the value or repair of your own baggage if it is lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed during your trip.

This does not include items hired, loaned or entrusted to you, except mobility aids hired, loaned or entrusted to you by the NHS or a similar body.

For a pair or set of items, AllClear is only responsible for the value of the part that is lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed.

AllClear may apply an additional 10% reduction to an item valued over £100 if you cannot prove ownership or provide proof of purchase when requested. This is after normal reductions for age, wear and tear, and loss of value.

Delayed baggage

Delayed baggage can help towards replacement necessities if your own baggage is delayed on your outward journey for at least 12 hours.

You need a written report from the carrier or tour representative. Receipts are needed if you make a claim.
Any amount paid for delayed baggage must be refunded to AllClear if the baggage is later found to be permanently lost.

Personal money

Personal money can apply if your own money is lost or stolen while:
  • Carried on your person.
  • Left in a locked safety deposit box.

If you are aged under 16, personal money is limited to £100 in total, with cash limited to £50.
Passport and travel documents

Passport and travel documents can apply if your passport is lost or stolen during a trip, as long as this is outside the country you departed from.

This can include:

  • Reasonable travel and accommodation costs outside your home country to get a replacement passport or visa.
  • Reasonable additional public transport costs if you cannot make your pre-booked return flight home because your passport was lost or stolen within 24 hours of your scheduled departure.
  • Fees to get a replacement passport while outside your home country.
  • The pro-rata value of the original passport at the time it was lost.
  • Replacement costs for travel tickets, Green Cards, visas, prepaid accommodation vouchers, prepaid car-hire vouchers and prepaid excursion vouchers.

The total amount payable for these items is limited to the passport and travel documents amount for your policy level.

Optional gadgets and valuables extension

The optional gadgets and valuables extension increases the total policy limit for gadgets and valuables.
This extension only applies if:
  • You chose the upgrade before leaving your home area.
  • You paid the appropriate additional premium.
  • The upgrade is shown on your policy schedule.
The optional extension includes:
  • Gadgets and valuables extension cover: £2,500.
  • Single article, pair or set limit: £1,000.

The extension may also include fraudulent use of a lost or stolen gadget and temporary hire of replacement gadgets abroad, subject to the policy conditions.

For fraudulent gadget use, the theft or loss must be reported to the service provider within 24 hours of discovery. Proof may be required.

For temporary hire of replacement gadgets, you must keep receipts and be able to provide proof that your personal gadget was lost or stolen during your trip.
