This article only applies to medical emergencies that happen on a cruise where the policy includes cruise cover. It does not explain general medical emergency claims, non-cruise injuries, or whether a specific injury such as a broken leg would be covered.
You may be covered for emergency medical costs and medically necessary repatriation on a cruise if your policy includes cruise cover and the claim meets the policy terms, conditions and exclusions. Silver and Gold policies do not include cruise cover. Gold Plus offers cruise cover as an optional upgrade, while Platinum includes it as standard. Pre-existing medical conditions must be disclosed and accepted in writing for related claims to be considered. Emergency medical expenses are handled under Section 6, with limits of £15,000,000 and a £75 excess for Gold Plus, and unlimited cover with zero excess for Platinum. Contact the 24-hour emergency assistance helpline as soon as possible in an emergency.

In an emergency: you must contact the 24-hour emergency assistance helpline as soon as possible (especially if you’re admitted to hospital or treatment is likely to cost more than £350).
