Am I covered for repatriation on a winter sports or adventure holiday?

  • Updated

Repatriation (getting you back to your home country for further care) sits within Emergency medical expenses across AllClear policies. It may apply if you become ill or injured on your trip and it becomes medically necessary to return early. For cover to apply, any claim arising from amateur sporting or adventure activities is only considered if the activity is listed as covered (and you meet any stated conditions).

Silver Policies

Adventure activities: You’re not covered for amateur sporting or adventure activities unless they’re listed as covered in Silver’s activities tables, and you follow any special conditions/requirements shown there (including where it’s an “activity holiday”). Find your Policy Wording.

Those activities tables also include conditions (for example, using appropriate safety equipment and the “activity holiday” rules).

Winter sports on Silver (important): Silver doesn’t have a Winter sports cover add-on so you will not be covered for winter sports activities.

Gold / Gold Plus / Platinum Policies

Adventure activities: Amateur sporting/adventure activities aren’t covered unless the activity is listed as covered in your policy’s activity tables, and you meet any stated conditions/requirements shown there. Find your Policy Wording.

Winter sports:
You’re not covered for winter sports unless:

  • The activity is listed as covered, you’ve paid the additional Winter Sports premium (as shown on your policy schedule), and you meet any stated conditions/requirements.
  • The Winter Sports section also explains what counts as winter sports activities.

AllClear policies do not provide cover for repatriation costs unless the Emergency Assistance team say it’s necessary (and they decide the most appropriate way to get you home)

What to do if you need help abroad:

If you’re admitted to hospital, or outpatient treatment is likely to cost more than £350, you must contact Zurich Assist as soon as possible (otherwise it could reduce the amount you can claim).

Eligibility, terms and exclusions apply. Please refer to your policy documents for full details.
