Will my Policy cover me for medical treatment whilst travelling in the UK?

In most cases, no. cover for Medical Emergency Expenses doesn’t apply to trips within the UK. It can apply if you’re travelling outside the UK, travelling between the Channel Islands/Isle of Man and other parts of the UK, and (Gold Plus/Platinum) on a UK-only cruise if it's included in your policy schedule .


Silver and Gold Policies

Medical Emergency Expenses applies to:

  • Trips outside the United Kingdom, and Channel Islands/Isle of Man residents visiting other parts of mainland UK, and
    mainland UK residents visiting the Channel Islands or Isle of Man.
  • It does not apply to other trips within the United Kingdom.
  • Benefits are for costs incurred outside your home country, and it won’t pay for treatment or costs in your home country.

Please note: Silver and Gold policies do not include Cruise cover


Gold Plus and Platinum Policies

Medical Emergency Expenses applies to the same situations as above, and it also includes:

  • Cruises within the United Kingdom if you have the Optional Upgrade for Gold Plus and comes as standard for Platinum.

As with other policies, this section is for costs incurred outside your home country, and it won’t pay for treatment or costs in your home country, or for costs of more than £500 not agreed beforehand.

Cruise note: the policy also says you’re not covered for participating in a cruise unless cruise cover is listed on your policy schedule and the additional premium has been paid. (Cruise cover is included as standard with Platinum and an Optional Addon with Gold Plus
