Can I add Zero excess at a later date?

  • Updated

Yes,  you can request Zero Excess to be added. If it’s added after your policy has started, however it won’t remove the excess for anything that has already happened, or anything you already know is likely to lead to a claim.

What you need to know

What it changes: Zero Excess removes excesses except for medical claims linked to amateur sporting/adventure activities or winter sports activities.

When it starts working: If it’s added after the start of the policy, it only helps for new incidents from that point onwards (it won’t change the excess for pre-existing/known incidents).

How to check you have it: Your chosen level of excess will be shown on your policy schedule.

Policy breakdown

  • Silver: Silver has set excesses shown in the Summary of cover (there isn’t a Zero Excess option listed).
  • Gold / Gold Plus / Platinum: Zero Excess is available for an extra premium, with the timing rule above if it’s added after the policy starts.
