What is Waiting List cover?

  • Updated

Waiting List cover is an optional extra on some policies. It’s intended for situations where you’re on a waiting list, or you have a scheduled procedure, and a change to the date (brought forward or delayed) could mean you have to cancel your trip or cut it short..

Waiting List cover explained:

  • Eligibility: Gold, Gold Plus and Platinum — this cover is only available to single trip policies and only where cancellation cover is included.
  • What it relates to: Being on a waiting list for medical treatment or investigation, or having a scheduled procedure that could be brought forward or delayed.
  • Why it matters: If a change to that timing means you have to cancel or cut short your trip, those costs won’t be covered unless you’ve paid the additional premium for Waiting List cover.
  • How to check it’s included: Look at your policy documents to confirm Waiting List cover is shown on your policy.
  • What you must tell us: You must disclose if anyone insured has been placed on a waiting list that could affect the trip, as part of the medical health disclosure requirements.
