Can I get cover whilst on a waiting list for surgery, treatment or further consultations?

Yes.

If you have a Single Trip Policy, you can add waiting list cover if you feel the waiting list could cause you to cancel or cut short your travel plans.

Waiting List cover can not be purchased on Annual Multi-trip Policies. We will cover you to go on your trip, however, there will be no cover if you need to cancel or cut short your travel plans as a result of the waiting list.

Its important to note that if your medical condition is undiagnosed we would be unable to cover you for this condition.

 

In many cases, yes,  you can still be insured to travel. But cover for cancelling or cutting your trip short because of a waiting list depends on your policy type and level of cover.

Eligibility

  • Waiting list disclosure: Tell us if you (or anyone insured) are on a waiting list that could affect your trip (for example, causing you to cancel or cut your trip short).
  • Single Trip vs Annual Multi-trip: Waiting list cover is only available on Single Trip policies (and only where cancellation cover is included).

How cover works by policy level

  • Silver (cancellation): Silver doesn’t include cancellation cover, so cancelling your trip because of a waiting list isn’t covered.
  • Silver (cutting your trip short): If you cut your trip short due to a medical emergency, that may be covered. A change to a treatment date due to a waiting list isn’t treated as a medical emergency and is not covered.
  • Gold / Gold Plus / Platinum (waiting list impact): Cancellation or cutting your trip short because a treatment/procedure date changes due to a waiting list isn’t covered unless you’ve added Waiting List cover (and it’s shown on your policy documents).
  • Annual Multi-trip (waiting list impact): Waiting List cover can’t be added to Annual Multi-trip policies, so cancelling or cutting your trip short because of the waiting list isn’t covered.
